Ayutthaya Day Trip
Description
Dive into the profound historical and architectural heritage of Thailand on an engaging excursion to the ancient capital of Ayutthaya.
Description
We will convene at the National Stadium BTS Station at the designated time. Following this, we will travel in a climate-controlled vehicle to the Bang Pa-In Royal Palace, arriving around 10 am. This exquisite riverside palace complex served as the summer residence for former Thai monarchs, showcasing remarkable architectural marvels. The complex's gleaming pagodas and tranquil pools present a captivating introduction to the area’s magnificent history.
Our journey will then lead us to the ancient ruins of Ayutthaya. Established in 1350, Ayutthaya acted as the second capital of the Siamese Kingdom. In 1767, the city fell victim to an assault by the Burmese forces, resulting in widespread destruction and abandonment. The remnants of this once-great city now stand as a portal to its storied past, with Buddha heads entwined in tree roots enhancing the site’s historical allure.
After our exploration of this remarkable city, we will pause for lunch at a local restaurant, allowing time to recharge. You will have ample opportunity to visit remarkable ancient religious sites such as Wat Mahathat, featuring a prominent Buddha head cradled in the roots of ancient trees. We will also explore Wat Mongkol Borpit, famous for its magnificent seated Buddha statue. Our tour continues to Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, the most sacred and paramount complex of the ancient capital.
Finally, we will visit Wat Chaiwatthanaram, celebrated for its iconic stone Thai Buddhist chedi monument. This site played a significant role in Ayutthaya earning UNESCO World Heritage status in 1991.
With a collection of memorable photos, we will make our way back to Bangkok.
