Our journey begins in Matera, a spectacular cave town nestled within a ravine. This remarkable site features ancient rock-cut caves and holds the distinction of being the first location in southern Italy designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The fascinating history of Matera includes its residents who resided in cave homes until 1952, forming two districts known as Sassi. We'll navigate the charming winding cobbled streets, uncovering the captivating stories that define this extraordinary locale. Don't miss the opportunity to take in the breathtaking views of the Murgia hills!

Following our exploration of Matera, we will travel to Altamura. Here, we will delve into the vibrant ambiance of its historic center, wandering through the picturesque cobbled pathways. Altamura is particularly famous for its artisanal bread, often regarded as the finest in Italy!

During our time in Altamura, you will enjoy free time to indulge in a meal, with the chance to sample this exquisite bread from one of the local stone ovens.

Ultimately, we will reconvene to conclude our excursion to Matera and Altamura, returning to Bari approximately 7 hours after our journey began.
