Temple of Heaven, Lama Temple & Summer Palace Tour
Description
Experience the rich heritage of the Chinese capital through an insightful exploration of the Temple of Heaven, Lama Temple, and Summer Palace. This journey unfolds the imperial legacy, Buddhist devotion, and the essence of traditional life in Beijing.
Tour Details
Our adventure kicks off in the morning at Tiantandongmen Station. First, we will visit the Temple of Heaven, renowned as China's largest imperial worship site where the Ming and Qing emperors prayed for bountiful harvests. You'll have the opportunity to admire the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, an exquisite representation of ancient Chinese architectural brilliance.
Next, we will move on to the Lama Temple, regarded as Beijing's most significant Tibetan Buddhist monastery. This remarkable site displays a blend of Han and Tibetan architectural influences. You will be captivated by the majestic Maitreya Buddha, carved from a single piece of sandalwood and soaring to a height of 18 meters (59 feet).
Following our temple visit, a local restaurant awaits to serve a hearty lunch featuring a traditional delicacy: Peking duck. Enjoy your meal!
Once we have dined, our journey continues to the Summer Palace, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and celebrated as the “Royal Garden Museum.” We will take a leisurely walk alongside Kunming Lake and appreciate the famous Long Corridor, adorned with paintings that express the unity between humanity and nature.
Additionally, for those interested, there’s an optional cruise on the Imperial Canal, a historic waterway that royalty once navigated to reach the Summer Palace. Guests who prefer not to partake in the cruise will have ample leisure time to further explore the palace.
Our day concludes here after an enriching experience that spans 8 hours, and we will bid farewell at this final destination.
