Chankillo & Cerro Sechín Excursion

Dive into the rich history of Peru with an enriching visit to the archaeological sites of Chankillo and Sechín, where we will explore the key prehistoric locations in the Casma province.

Tour Options

Upon securing your reservation, you can select one of the following excursions. Each option includes pickup at 8 am from your hotel in Casma, transport, an English-speaking guide, entrance fees, and return transfer.

Chankillo & Cerro Sechín Tour (7 hours)

If you opt for this tour, our first destination will be the archaeological site of Chankillo, home to the Thirteen Towers, which are recognized as the oldest astronomical site in the Americas. Notably, this site gained the designation of World Heritage Site in July 2021 due to its remarkable cultural significance.

As we explore, we will also take a look at the ancient fortified temple of Chankillo, believed to have been constructed between 257 and 201 B.C. Following our journey through this sacred site, we will visit the nearby carob tree forest and enjoy a one-hour lunch break at a local restaurant.

After lunch, we will proceed to Cerro Sechín to delve into its 4,000-year-old archaeological complex. During our visit, we will closely examine its various lithographic engravings and stop by the Max Uhle Museum to view artifacts discovered at the location.

Chankillo, Cerro Sechín & Las Aldas Tour (8 hours)

This itinerary follows the previously outlined path, excluding the carob forest visit. Following our exploration of Cerro Sechín and the Max Uhle Museum, we will venture towards the coast to discover the archaeological site of Las Aldas.

At Las Aldas, we will uncover insights into the origins of this ceremonial, administrative and scientific center, which dates from 1925 to 1410 BC.
