Rainbow Mountain Hike
Description
Embark on a journey to the enchanting realm where a rainbow descends and transforms the scenic Andean terrain during this guided excursion to Vinicunca, known as the stunning Mountain of Seven Colors.
Description
Prepare for an extraordinary experience as we arrange your transport from your accommodation in Cusco to one of the most celebrated mountains in Peru – Rainbow Mountain.
Following approximately two hours of travel, we'll arrive in Kusipata village. Here, we will enjoy a substantial breakfast to prepare ourselves for the adventurous hike ahead.
Once we've satisfied our hunger, we will continue our journey for an additional two hours, traveling through the community of Pitumarca, positioned at 3570 meters above sea level, until we reach a starting point of our trek at a significant elevation of 4600 meters (15,000 feet). Guided by our knowledgeable lead, we will navigate through the breathtaking peaks, with opportunities to spot Andean wildlife such as alpacas, sheep, and vicuñas.
After about one hour and 45 minutes of hiking, we will be greeted by the awe-inspiring sight of Rainbow Mountain, also referred to as Vinicunca or the Mountain of the Seven Colors. Upon witnessing this natural spectacle, it becomes clear why it is featured on National Geographic's list of "100 Places to Visit Before You Die."
We will allow ample time for captivating photographs of Rainbow Mountain before making our way back down to the bus, following the same downhill route – a much easier trek!
Subsequently, we will return to Kusipata for a much-deserved buffet lunch, a fitting reward for our efforts!
After enjoying our meal, we'll make our way back to central Cusco, where you will be dropped off near the Plaza de Armas, concluding this remarkable 14 to 15-hour journey.
