Tour Overview
We will convene at the Tourism Office in Valls at the scheduled time. Following the arrival of all participants, a walking journey through this Tarragona province city, known as the birthplace of the castells—the iconic human towers—will commence.
In Valls, there is a popular adage: "People enjoy observing the sky." During this guided exploration, you will uncover the significance of this saying while discovering fascinating insights about this delightful city with more than 800 years of heritage.
Our adventure begins as we traverse the historic center of Valls. As you walk along, we will delve into the city's trade history, a primary factor contributing to the rise of the Jewish population in the 13th century. Our route will take us to Plaza del Blat, an ideal location to understand the castell heritage.
Next, we will visit the Refugio Antiaéreo de la Guerra Civil, where you will hear remarkable tales of the locals during this challenging period as you navigate its underground tunnels.
Our tour continues at the Parish of San Juan Bautista, home to the tallest bell tower in Catalonia, sure to leave you in awe. After taking in the sky and admiring the intricate details of its facade, we will proceed to Plaza de L’Oli, recognized as an Asset of Local Cultural Interest within Catalonia.
To conclude our journey, we will stop at the Capilla del Roser (Chapel of the Roser), a Late-Romanesque chapel from the 14th century featuring an impressive collection of over 2500 tiles commemorating the Battle of Lepanto. The tiles within, classified as a National Tourist Heritage Site, are sure to enchant you!
This guided exploration lasting 1 hour will wrap up with farewells outside the chapel, marking the end of our tour.
