Located close to Punta de Sal, Puerto Pizarro serves as the entrance to the renowned mangroves of Tumbes. This adventure will guide you through this remarkable South American ecosystem, allowing you to appreciate its stunning scenery.

Tumbes Mangrove Excursion

Your journey begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Punta Sal at 9 am. We'll then set off towards Tumbes, situated in the northwestern region of Peru.

After nearly two hours on the road, we’ll arrive at Puerto Pizarro, from where we will board a boat to explore the celebrated National Sanctuary of the Tumbes mangroves. This unique ecosystem is an emblematic feature of intertropical America, a fact that adds to its allure.

As we navigate through the delta of the Tumbes River, we will traverse the navigable channels of the mangroves and visit iconic locations, including the Isla de los Pájaros (Birds' Island). Here, you’ll discover the fascinating red mangrove, known for its striking reddish bark.

Continuing our exploration, we will pass by Whale Bone Island and make a stop at Love Island, where pristine beaches await. You will have time to relax and sample some of the local culinary delights.

Next, we will return to the mainland and explore the heart of Tumbes, visiting the Plaza de Armas. Our final stop will be at Amotape beach, where you can admire the vibrant turquoise waters.

By the end of the day, we return to Punta Sal and conclude the tour by dropping you off at your hotel by 5 pm.
