We will convene at the Shikarawago bus terminal to kick off an 8-hour personalized tour of this historical settlement, revered as one of the premier attractions in the Japanese Alps.

Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995, Shirakawago offers an authentic glimpse into rural Japanese life. Nestled amidst mountains and cradled by the Sh? River, the village is renowned for its wooden structures built in the gassho-zukuri style, characterized by their steep thatched roofs.

Our journey will take us through Ogimachi, the largest and most significant village in the region. We will ascend to the Shiroyama viewpoint, located at the historic site of the former Ogimachi castle. Here, you can take in a sweeping view of the charming cottages that dot the landscape, followed by a walk across its 107-meter (351-foot) suspension bridge.

No visit would be complete without exploring the Wada family house, one of the most famous examples of gasso-zukuri architecture within Shirakawago. We will delve into the traditional layout of this building, which is among the largest in Ogimachi, showcasing the affluence and prominence of the Wada family, historically one of the wealthiest in the region.

Finally, we will pause at several local eateries, providing you with the chance to savor some typical cuisine before wrapping up the tour back at the original meeting point.
