Are you ready to explore one of the largest and most active volcanoes in the Galapagos Islands? Join us on this adventure to Sierra Negra, where you will traverse its slopes and encounter its fascinating flora.

At the scheduled time, we will collect you from your accommodation on Isabela Island and set off towards one of the Galapagos' most dynamic volcanoes.

We will embark on a 40-minute bus journey until we reach the starting point for our 8-kilometre (5-mile) hike. As we progress, prepare to be captivated by the cloaked landscape of clouds and mist, which supports the diverse vegetation we will observe.

Upon reaching the rim of the Sierra Negra Volcano, recognized as the second-largest crater globally, we will continue our trek northwest to encounter the Chico Volcano. This volcanic fissure last erupted in November 1979. Here, we will pause to relax and enjoy a lunch that includes a sandwich, fruit, and juice.

Our journey will proceed to the fumaroles situated within the Sierra Negra caldera, where we can witness the evidence of past lava flows. During this exploration, keep an eye out for white herons and various other species inhabiting the surroundings. The scenery is reminiscent of another world!

Afterward, we will return you to your accommodation on Isabela Island, concluding the experience after approximately 5-6 hours.

Hotel Pickup

This excursion offers hotel pickup from all establishments on Isabela Island, except for Scalesia Lodge. Should you be staying there, an additional pickup fee of 40USD per person will apply on the day of the tour.
