Whale Watching in Puerto Pirámides
Description
Embark on a remarkable journey into the heart of Argentine Patagonia with this whale watching experience in Puerto Pirámides. Set sail across the peaceful waters of Golfo Nuevo!
Tour Overview
Your adventure begins at the designated meeting point, the second access to the coast, where we will proceed to the Puerto Pirámides pier. Here, our vessel awaits, ready to navigate the serene waters of Golfo Nuevo, known as the breeding ground for southern right whales.
Once on board, the thrill of the journey ignites as we glide through the waters surrounding the Valdés Peninsula. Throughout our expedition, the captain and crew will share fascinating insights into the majestic whales, which travel vast distances to breed in this protected area recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The prime time for observing these magnificent creatures in Puerto Pirámides spans from June to December, when approximately 2,000 whales inhabit these waters, providing us the chance to witness their graceful movements up close.
In no time, we will catch sight of our first whale gliding gracefully just beneath the surface. With some luck, we might see them lifting their tails in a gentle arch, or even delight us with an exhilarating leap, breaking the tranquil ocean surface.
Often, these gentle giants approach the bow of our boat, at times even swimming underneath, offering us a close and emotional experience. Photographic opportunities abound as we capture the heartwarming sight of a mother guiding her calf in learning to breathe at the surface.
After approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes of exploration, we will head back to the pier, filled with gratitude for encountering one of nature's most stunning spectacles.
Sunset Departure
For those opting for the 5:30 pm departure, enjoy an additional 30 minutes on the water, enhancing your experience with the breathtaking views of the sunset over the ocean while increasing the possibility of whale sightings.
