Tour Overview

Day 1: Djerba - Chahbania - Tataouine - Chenini - Ksar Ghilane

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in Djerba, setting off southward to the mesmerizing scenery of Tataouine. During our drive, we will traverse the historic Roman Road, an extraordinary engineering feat that once connected the island to the African mainland. Prepare to be astonished!

After approximately 1.5 hours on the road, we will pause at the Chahbania salt lake. The striking rendition of white and blue hues creates a surreal backdrop for capturing unforgettable photos and momentary tranquility.

Continuing our journey, we'll arrive in Tataouine for a one-hour stroll through the village and its vibrant traditional market. Engage your senses as you explore the vivid colors and scents of Amazigh handicrafts, including textiles, spices, and artisan goods—truly a sensory delight!

Next up is a visit to the charming Chenini village, perched in the mountains. A leisurely walk through its narrow, historic stone streets allows you to absorb the tales of centuries past that echo in every corner.

At noon, enjoy a sumptuous Amazigh lunch at a traditional restaurant featuring local favorites such as a hearty soup, brik, a savory egg-filled pastry, and flavorsome couscous.

In the afternoon, we venture into the desert across the rugged Erg terrain, arriving at the oasis of Ksar Ghilane. Here, clusters of palm trees and stretches of golden sand offer a refreshing natural hot spring, a delightful retreat from the heat.

For the adventurous, options abound! Choose to explore the dunes on a camel or quad bike, or perhaps both! If relaxation suits you better, a gentle stroll in the oasis offers a serene experience.

As the sun sets, we will reach Zemla camp, where you will spend the night in the heart of the desert. Participate in a unique experience by learning how to bake traditional bread in the sand while witnessing one of the most breathtaking sunsets in southern Tunisia.

Our evening meal will be served under the stars, featuring dishes such as salad, brik, sand-baked bread, aromatic meats cooked in a gargoulette, and seasonal fruits. After dinner, unwind beneath the expansive Saharan sky—a truly magical evening awaits!

Day 2: Ksar Ghilane - Tamazret - Sidi Idriss - Toujane - Djerba

Following a hearty breakfast in the desert, including sand bread, eggs, cheese, dates, and juice, we will set our course towards the scenic Matmata region, famed for its troglodyte dwellings carved into the earth.

Our first stop is Tamazret, a peaceful Amazigh village. Here, we will indulge in mint tea amidst a historical ambiance, finding respite in the tranquility of southern Tunisia!

Next, we will reach Matmata, where a welcoming local family residing in an authentic troglodyte home will share their daily routines with us. Participate in a homemade lunch featuring regional delicacies such as salad, soup, brik, and Amazigh-style couscous—a true showcase of Tunisian hospitality!

Rejuvenated, we will take a whimsical detour to the legendary Sidi Idriss troglodyte hotel, a mecca for film aficionados, recognized as a filming location for the Star Wars saga. Discover the remnants of the original set that remain today!

Before concluding our journey back to Djerba, we will visit the stunning village of Toujane, nestled in the mountains and renowned for its hand-woven carpets and artisanal honey. Capture your final souvenir photos and perhaps purchase a few last-minute gifts.

We will return to your hotel in Djerba between 3 and 4 pm, looking forward to your next adventure!
