Tikal Day Trip without Tickets

Details of the Excursion

At the scheduled time, we will gather at Centroamerica Street to board a vehicle for a comfortable 1.5-hour journey to Tikal National Park—home to one of the Mayan civilization's most significant urban centers!

As we venture into the Petenera jungle, filled with ceiba trees, corozo palms, heliconias, and abundant tropical vegetation, we may spot wildlife such as toucans, coatis, macaws, and, with some luck, the region's native black howler monkeys.

Our first stop will be the Main Plaza, the ceremonial epicenter of Tikal, which is flanked by the Temple of the Great Jaguar and the Temple of the Masks. From here, we will proceed to the Lost World, a complex of pyramids that were strategically aligned with the solstices and served ceremonial functions.

After enjoying a lunch break, we’ll visit Temple IV, the tallest structure in Tikal. Standing at 70 meters (229 feet), it provides stunning views of the surrounding jungle—making it an ideal spot to witness either the sunrise or sunset!

Finally, we will stroll along the ancient pathways while sharing insights about a civilization that excelled in astronomy and hieroglyphic writing.

We will conclude our journey back at the meeting point in Flores, wrapping up an enriching 8-hour experience.

Sunrise or Sunset Option

If you're eager to witness the enchanting sunrise at Tikal, consider reserving the 3 am tour. Alternatively, for those looking to enjoy the sunset over the ancient ruins, the 12 pm tour serves as the perfect choice.

Exclusions

The entry fee for Tikal National Park is not covered in the activity cost, which is set at 150GTQ per person. For the sunrise or sunset tours, an additional ticket priced at 100GTQ per person will be required.
