Description
Amazing fauna, river excursions, and jungle explorations: experience the wonders of the Peruvian Amazon on this immersive 4-day journey along the planet's largest river.
4-Day Amazon River Journey
Day 1
Your adventure begins as we collect you from your hotel and transport you directly to Bellavista port, where a boat awaits to ferry us to our jungle lodge. During this voyage, we will make a stop at the convergence of the Amazon and Nanay rivers, providing the chance to observe the local wildlife inhabiting these waters. Be on the lookout for piranhas!
In the afternoon, a small boat will take us to a community where the AQL Timicurillo resides, offering insights into their customs and daily life.
As night falls, we’ll reconvene at the lodge for dinner, followed by an opportunity for a guided night walk to explore the jungle under a different light.
Day 2
The next day kicks off with a trip to Neyser Island to visit its renowned snake sanctuary. Here, you can closely observe the reptiles as well as a variety of wildlife, including anteaters, sloths, monkeys, and turtles.
Following this, we will head to the San Juan de Huashalado farm to explore the “El Encanto de Rony” rescue centre, where you’ll encounter creatures like anacondas and colorful parrots.
We’ll also enjoy sampling local aphrodisiac beverages such as Rompe Calzón, 7 Raíces, and Levántate Lázaro, alongside medicinal drinks like Camú Camú, ginger, and copaiba oil, beneficial for various ailments.
After lunch, we’ll take to the river again in boats or canoes to fish and witness a stunning Amazonian sunset. Later, we’ll return to the lodge for dinner while sharing myths and legends of the Amazon.
Day 3
After a hearty breakfast, we set out for a canoe excursion along the Yanayacu River, known for its diverse bird species, monkeys, towering trees, and rich natural beauty. This area is also famous for its populations of grey and pink dolphins.
We'll savor a meal outdoors, either at a local farmer’s home or aboard the canoe. On the way back, enjoy the breathtaking views of an Amazingly vibrant sunset, after which we will return to the lodge for a relaxing dinner.
Day 4
On our final day, we’ll rise early to take a brief night stroll through the jungle and behold one of the most spectacular sunrises. Afterward, we will enjoy a substantial breakfast before heading to our next activities.
Throughout the day, we’ll have the opportunity to visit a local community, where we’ll engage in traditional dances and explore their handicrafts, ensuring you leave with a unique souvenir. In the afternoon, we’ll visit an indigenous community to understand their traditional healing practices.
Finally, following a nourishing lunch, we will embark on a 2.5-hour return trip to Iquitos, where we will drop you off at your hotel or a centrally located venue of your choice.
