Your journey will commence at the ticket office of Leiria Castle, a fitting starting point for our adventure through this monumental stronghold. Together, let’s unveil the many mysteries it holds!

You might be intrigued to discover that since its completion in 1135, the castle’s interior has been exceptionally well-preserved. As we wander through the majestic halls, we will delve into the narrative behind its grand construction. Commissioned by the first king of Portugal, Alfonso Henriques, the castle was strategically built to safeguard the realm from potential invaders.

Within the city limits, we will also encounter several notable landmarks, including the Church of Nossa Senhora da Penha, the historical Pazos Reales, the Main Tower, and, perhaps most importantly, breathtaking vistas unique to Portugal. After gaining insights into the castle’s rich history, we will meander through the city streets to visit the Leiria Cathedral. While its façade may appear austere, it conceals a distinctive history that our expert guide will reveal.
