On the day of your adventure, you will be collected from your accommodation and begin your journey from Lugo to the town of Castro de Rei, home to the remarkable ancient site known as Castro de Viladonga.
Upon arrival at this pre-Roman hillfort, you will join a guided exploration of the archaeological area. This immersive experience will unveil the culture, traditions, and lifestyle of the Celtic inhabitants who thrived here millennia ago. As you walk through the site, you will encounter the well-preserved remnants of fortification walls, residential structures, and communal buildings. The archaeological complex offers a captivating glimpse into the "Castro culture" that characterizes these ancient fortified locations found throughout north-western Spain and Portugal.
To deepen your understanding of this significant period in history, you'll proceed to the Castro de Viladonga Archaeological Museum. The exhibits, including detailed scale models and artifacts unearthed from the castro, will provide valuable insights into daily life in pre-Roman Galicia.
Following your visit to Castro de Viladonga, you will head towards Fonmiñá Lake located on the outskirts of Meira. Here, you can stroll through the stunning natural scenery surrounding the origins of the Miño River and uncover the local legends tied to its springs, which arise from the nearby Pedregal de Irimia.
Your excursion will conclude as you board the minibus for the return trip to Lugo.

This tour includes a pickup service from hotels in Lugo around 9:30 am. If you are not located within the city or prefer to join us directly, please arrive at the meeting point at Praza de Bretaña by 10 am.
