This excursion to Izamal offers an opportunity to discover the allure of this enchanting Pueblo Mágico and experience the captivating light and sound exhibition hosted in its historic center.

Overview of the Day Trip

At the scheduled time, we will collect you from your accommodation in Merida and travel by minibus to Izamal, which takes around 1.5 hours.

Upon arrival, we will visit the impressive Kinich Kakmó Pyramid. You will receive a guided tour of this remarkable structure dedicated to the Maya sun deity, along with breathtaking views of Izamal’s historical center, characterized by its vibrant yellow buildings. During the visit, we’ll also uncover the fascinating impact of Pope John Paul II on the town's distinctive color scheme.

After capturing some memorable photos, we will proceed to the San Antonio de Padua convent, located a short walk from the town's main square. This 16th-century Franciscan convent is recognized as one of the key historical sites in Yucatan.

Next, we will explore the community of Kimbilá, famous for its production of guayaberas. You will have an hour of leisure to browse the shops and discover a variety of garments. Feel free to refresh yourself with lunch at a nearby local eatery.

Post-lunch, we will enjoy the light and sound performance in Izamal. The spectacular projections on the yellow exterior of the San Antonio de Padua convent will undoubtedly captivate you - here, history, architecture, and audiovisual artistry come together harmoniously.

Following the performance, we will head back to Mérida. You can expect to be dropped off at your hotel around 10 hours after our initial departure.
