Excursion to Uxmal & Kabah

Beginning at a central location in Mérida at the appointed hour, our excursion to Uxmal and Kabah—two significant remnants of the Maya civilization—will commence.

We will embark on a guided exploration of the Uxmal archaeological site, focusing on its key attractions. As we stand before the magnificent Pyramid of the Magician, known also as the Pyramid of the Dwarf or Soothsayer, our guide will share the intriguing legend surrounding its origin. Who exactly was this enigmatic dwarf who inspired the pyramid's name?

The journey will continue as we visit Uxmal’s other remarkable stone structures, such as the Governor’s Palace, the House of Doves, the Old House, the cemetery, and the Falos Temple. The well-preserved state of this ancient city allows for a vivid imagination of Uxmal during its prime—a truly memorable experience!

Following our exploration of Uxmal, we will travel to another significant archaeological destination located within the Yucatán: Kabah. After a brief 20-minute drive, we will reach the Kabah archaeological site, which pays tribute to Chaac, the Maya god of rain. Here, we’ll take in the numerous masks of this deity adorning the walls of Codz Poop, also referred to as the "rolled-up carpet," while learning about the rituals aimed at invoking rain.

During our visit, we will also pass by the statues of the Maya rulers scattered throughout Kabah and explore the grand palace, the site’s most substantial structure.

Our day will conclude with a return journey to the Mérida meeting point, arriving approximately 7 hours after we set off.
