Mount Vesuvius Day Trip

We will pick you up from the agreed meeting point at the specified time and travel to Torre del Greco, located at the base of the volcano. From there, we will begin a foot trail leading to the peak of the mountain, approximately 1,000 m (3,280 ft) high, where you can see views of the Neopolitan bay. This area experienced a significant eruption in 79 AD, which devastated the towns of Pompei, Herculaneum, and Stabiae.

During our descent, we will discuss the eruption and share other details about the mountain, known for its appearances in various films and TV series. The activity lasts about 3.5 to 4 hours before we return to Naples.

Climbing Mount Vesuvius

The ascent to Mount Vesuvius will be on foot up to around 1,200 meters (3,937 feet). Individuals with mobility issues or those who prefer not to climb can wait at the rest point at the bottom of the mountain.

In case of adverse weather, if the crater is closed, we will stop at a viewpoint for photographs.

Language

The bus ride includes information about Vesuvius from the English-speaking driver. During the climb, you will be accompanied by a park guide, typically fluent in English and Italian, though the availability of an English-speaking guide is not guaranteed.

Pickup

When booking, you can select a pickup location: your hotel in Naples, the cruise terminal, or directly at the central station (just outside the Star Hotel Terminus in Plaza Garibaldi?). Note that the pickup service at the port is exclusively for cruise ship passengers. If staying in Naples, pickups occur at hotels or the train station.

Climbing Mount Vesuvius

The climb up Mount Vesuvius is done by foot, and is an ascent of 1,000 m (3,280 ft). It's recommended to bring comfortable footwear, sensible clothes and water.
Anybody physically unable or unwilling to climb the mountain can wait for the rest of the group at the rest point at the bottom of the mountain.
Although unusual, for meteorological reasons the crater can be closed. In these cases the tour makes a stop at a viewpoint to take photos from there, and we'll return the tickets to the crater (10EUR per person).
Please keep in mind that the guides that will accompany you up the Vesuvius will be the park guides, not the person accompanying you on the bus.
