Day of the Dead Night Tour
Description
The Day of the Dead is a significant and vibrant celebration in Mexico, rich with history and culture. Join us as we discover Oaxaca during the evening hours to uncover the stories and traditions woven into this extraordinary event.
Tour Overview
Are you ready to welcome your ancestors for this special evening? Our Day of the Dead tour commences right outside the Templo de San Matías in Jalatlaco, where our journey will lead us to the renowned Santo Domingo Square. This square serves as an ideal starting point to delve into the roots of Oaxaca’s celebratory customs.
From the square, your gaze will be directed toward the Temple of Santo Domingo de Guzmán. This historic convent is spectacularly adorned with vibrant decorations in honor of the Day of the Dead. Make sure your cameras are ready, as you'll want to capture the remarkable sights from the very start of our adventure!
As we traverse the lively streets of central Oaxaca, we will ultimately arrive at the Panteón General. Here, enveloped by the night, we will truly immerse ourselves in the celebration's spirit. Surrounded by tombs, music, and the scent of incense, we'll discuss the meaningful traditions associated with Day of the Dead and explore the profound connection between Mexicans and the concept of death.
Our journey will then take us to the Jalatlaco neighborhood, where locals vigilantly honor their departed loved ones throughout the night. Expect to see flowers, incense, and deep symbolism as we meander through alleyways adorned with beautiful altars at the doorsteps of homes.
To conclude this memorable evening, we'll visit a renowned local establishment to savor a delicious dinner filled with traditional dishes linked to the Day of the Dead celebrations. Enjoy every bite!
We will wrap up our 4-hour tour with heartfelt farewells.
