Discovering Santiago Apoala

Our adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Oaxaca at 9 am, after which we'll traverse the beautiful Mixtec region, known for its remarkable natural variety.

Our first stop is a vibrant local market, where you'll have the chance to enjoy breakfast at your own pace before we proceed to the charming village of Santiago Apoala. It's often described as a true Mixtec paradise, and you'll quickly see why.

Upon our arrival, we'll embark on a walk to immerse ourselves in the stunning natural beauty that surrounds Santiago Apoala. The renowned twin crags will be the first spectacular sights we encounter on our trek. After soaking in these views, we’ll continue along the hiking path toward the Tutatnoho riverbed, an ideal spot for a refreshing swim.

Next, we’ll make our way to the iconic Santiago Apoala waterfall, an impressive cascade that rises 30 meters (98 feet) high, sure to leave you in awe. Photographers will find this location perfect for capturing stunning images of the waterfall.

After enjoying the waterfall, we will drive to the village center of Santiago Apoala, where you’ll have about an hour to savor a leisurely lunch. Following this break, we will make our way back to your hotel in Oaxaca, arriving around 8 pm.
