Day 1

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in Ouarzazate. Head towards Tinghir, located in one of the most beautiful oases of southern Morocco. During the trip, you'll traverse the Route of the Thousand Kasbahs, named for the many fortifications that line this ancient pathway, and pass through the stunning Valley of Roses before reaching the Dadès Valley. Here, you’ll stop to explore the Dadès Gorges and admire geological formations such as Monkey Fingers Canyon and the Todra Gorge.

Continue to the town of Merzouga, famed for its palm groves that yield delicious dates, making a stop for lunch before arriving at Erfoud, an oasis town known for its fossil fragments.

Upon reaching Merzouga, leave the comfort of your vehicle behind to truly experience the desert; you will ride a camel across the picturesque dunes to the haima where you will spend the night.

As night falls, surrounded by the desert's vastness, enjoy an authentic Moroccan meal before retiring for the night under the stars.

Day 2

Recognizing the saying "the early bird catches the worm," you will embark on a sunrise camel ride to witness the breathtaking dawn over Erg Chebbi, one of the most beautiful spots in the Merzouga desert. This early start is sure to be a highlight of your trip!

After soaking in the stunning views at sunrise, head back to the camp for a shower and breakfast. The next leg of your Moroccan desert tour takes you towards the Tafilalet Palm Grove near the historic town of Rissani, home of the Alaouite dynasty. Continue through Alnif and the scenic Anti-Atlas Mountains.

As you traverse the route to the Amazigh communities of Tazarine and N'kob, enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding peaks and the Draa Valley with its sweeping palm groves. You will cross the renowned Tizi N'Tnifift mountain pass, which sits at over 3,800 feet (1660 m), before returning to Ouarzazate around 5 pm.

Accommodation

When making your reservation, you can select between two categories for your stay in the Merzouga Desert: standard or luxury.

Both camps and hotels offer only double accommodations; solo travelers will incur a supplementary charge. Triple and family rooms are also available if required.

Standard haimas can house up to 4 guests and include a private bathroom. Luxury haimas, allowing for up to 5 guests, also feature a private bathroom. The standard and luxury camps operate independently, with variations in meal offerings and interior décor.

Please note that during peak seasons, like Easter or Christmas, standard-category camps may offer shared bathrooms. Additionally, there is a €30 supplement for air conditioning in the luxury camps.
