Dôme des Invalides

Museum of the Order of Liberation
The Musée de l'Ordre de la Libération, or Museum of the Order of Liberation, commemorates the order established by Charles de Gaulle in 1940. The collection provides insight into the narrative of a free France, encompassing themes of internal resistance and deportation.
Museum of Plans-Reliefs
This collection is focused on military figures and offers an understanding of two centuries of military history.
Opening Hours
The Army Museum is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm. Please note that the exhibition rooms will close 15 minutes prior to the museum's closing, and the front desk will shut down roughly 30 minutes before closing.
Extended Hours: On the first Friday of each month, the museum remains open from 6 pm to 10 pm. The ticket office will close at 9 pm. For visits during this timeframe, tickets can be purchased at the office for 10 EUR each.
On Thursday, March 26, 2026, the museum will open at 1 pm.
Be aware that these opening hours are subject to modification.
Free Admission
Admission to the museum is complimentary on July 14 and during the European Heritage Days.
Throughout the year, young adults from the EU aged 18 to 26, individuals under 18 of any nationality, disabled individuals and their caregivers, as well as holders of Pass Education are entitled to free entry. To claim free admission, visit the museum's main desk with valid identification.
For EU young adults ages 18 to 26 and holders of Pass Education, if you want to view the temporary exhibition, a ticket costing 5 EUR per person is required. These tickets can be purchased at the museum's front desk or through the museum's website.

Entrance to The Museum
There are two entrances to the museum:
- 129 rue de Grenelle: Esplanade des Invalides (access only permitted during the nighttime opening times)
- 2 place Vauban: Dôme des Invalides.
Those with reduced mobility may enter through the entrance at Place Vauban.

The Hôtel National des Invalides is a military site and a place of homage, where ceremonies and acts of commemoration regularly take place. Due to this, access to the museum may be completely or partially closed during certain periods.
The museum is fairly large, and due to this we recommend choosing 2 or 3 spaces to visit to make the most of your experience, The visit will last at least 2 or 3 hours, but to see the whole thing would take almost an entire day. There's a restaurant and a tea room where you can take a short break during your visit.
Opening Times
The museum opens from Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.
The various exhibition rooms with be vacated 15 minutes before the closing time of the museum. The lockers will be closed approximately 30 minutes before closure.
Nighttime opening times: On the first Friday of every month, the museum extends its opening hours from 6 pm to 10 pm. The ticket office closes at 9 pm. If you wish to visit the museum during this time, you'll have to buy a ticket at the ticket office for 10EUR per person.
On Thursday, March 26, 2026, the museum will be open from 1 pm.
The museum will remain closed on January 1, May 1 and December 25.
Please keep in mind that these opening times are flexible and subject to change.
Free Entry
Free entry to the museum is permitted on the July 14 and the days of European Heritage Day.
During the whole year, entry to the museum is free for young adults of the European Union between the ages of 18 and 26, for those under the age of 18 of any nationality, for those who are disabled and their carers and for those who are holders of Pass Education. To get free tickets to entry, please go to the main desk of the museum with a valid form of identification.
In the case of the young adults of the European Union ages between 18 and 26 and those who are holders of Pass Education, if you wish to visit the temporary exhibition you'll have to purchase a ticket for 5EUR per person. These tickets are available on the museum website and at the front desk.
