Are you familiar with the historical area known as Terras de Trás-os-Montes? During this excursion to Lamego, you will explore one of the most remarkable cities nestled in this northern region of Portugal.

Description

At the scheduled time, we will pick you up from your accommodation and begin our journey towards Lamego, which is renowned as one of the most charming historic cities in northern Portugal.

Upon arrival, we will set off on a walking tour through Lamego's historic center, where we will encounter its most significant monuments. Our first stop will be the impressive Our Lady of the Assumption Cathedral, a magnificent Gothic structure situated in the heart of the town.

We will then wander through the narrow streets of the medieval era, making our way to the Igreja de Santa Maria de Almacave. Interesting fact: this was the venue for the meetings of the Cortes of Lamego. Following this, we will stroll to the Castle of Lamego. As we examine the exterior of the castle, we’ll delve into the history of this strategic medieval fortress.

After uncovering the tales behind the fortification, our tour will continue at the striking Santuário de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios. Here, we will appreciate its distinct rococo architecture from the 18th century. Did you know it is a favored spot for wedding photographs?

To conclude our day, we'll visit a local wine bar to savor a glass of sparkling wine from Lamego (juice will be provided for those underage). We will then head back to your hotel, expecting to arrive approximately four hours after our initial pickup.
