Hike to the Alto Shambillo Waterfall

Your journey begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Pucallpa at the scheduled time. We will travel to Aguaytía, delving into the heart of the Peruvian Amazon. The drive lasts roughly 3.5 hours, providing an opportunity to admire the stunning jungle scenery along the way.

Upon reaching Aguaytía, our 2.5-kilometer (1.5-mile) trek through the forest commences, marking the transition into the high jungle. This rich environment is intertwined with the foothills of the remarkable Cordillera Azul, where you will encounter astonishing biodiversity at each turn. Keep an ear out for the monkeys, parrots, toucans, and the cock-of-the-rock, the national bird of Peru, which inhabit this area!

Alongside its vibrant fauna, the hike will also showcase an impressive array of flora. Be on the lookout for the majestic balsa tree, the unique cetico, and the colorful heliconias, as well as medicinal plants like matico.

After this enthralling walk, we will arrive at the stunning Alto Shambillo waterfall. Here, you'll enjoy 2 hours of leisure to soak in the beauty of this natural wonder. Relax by the pools formed by the waterfall or take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters.

Once you've had your fill of the waterfall, we'll return to Aguaytía. You'll then have the chance to savor some lunch at one of the local restaurants, where options include both tourist-friendly and Creole dining, showcasing the best of regional cuisine.

Rejuvenated, we will begin our return journey to Pucallpa, concluding the day with a drop-off at your hotel after an enriching experience lasting approximately 12 hours.
