Rabat Guided Walking Tour
Description
Uncover the rich history of Morocco's capital through this guided exploration of Rabat. Journey through time as you witness the evolution of the city, from its ancient Roman sites to its majestic royal structures, including the Hassan Tower and the Kasbah of the Udayas.
Tour Details
We will convene at Bab el Had Square at the predetermined time, poised to delve into Rabat's storied past, from Roman ruins to opulent palaces.
Our adventure begins with a walk along the narrow, charming streets of the Kasbah, where stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and the adjacent city of Salé await to captivate you.
Our next stop is the Hassan Tower, an emblematic unfinished minaret from the 12th century, symbolizing grand aspirations. Adjacent to it lies the remarkable Mausoleum of Mohammed V, a tribute to Morocco’s royal lineage, adorned with pristine marble and intricate carvings created by over 400 Moroccan artisans.
Following this, we will proceed to the Royal Palace, or Dar al-Makhzen, the official residence of the King of Morocco. Although we will view it from the outside, the grandeur of its gates, expansive courtyards, and ceremonial guards will leave you in awe.
Next, we will immerse ourselves in the history of the Roman city of Chellah, a fortified Muslim necropolis and archaeological landmark. This enchanting locale, now inhabited by nesting storks, blends historical depth with natural beauty, offering a tranquil and enigmatic ambiance.
Finally, we’ll delve into the vibrant life of the Old Medina of Rabat, meandering through lively streets adorned with colorful shops and artisan crafts. Experience the daily hustle and bustle, witnessing authentic local lifestyles.
After approximately 2 hours, our tour will culminate at the restaurant Dar Rbatia, marking the end of your journey through the Moroccan capital.
