History & Art in the Church of Sant'Eufemia

Located beneath the 18th-century Church of Sant'Eufemia, this expansive underground domus is 9.84 ft (3 m) below street level and consists of 14 rooms adorned with polychromatic mosaics and marbles, part of a private Byzantine structure. The mosaics, decorated with geometric, floral, and figurative elements, are considered unique treasures!

Among its most notable features are the Danza dei Geni delle Quattro Stagioni, a captivating display of figures dancing in a circle, and the Buon Pastore, depicted in a manner distinct from the Christian interpretation of The Good Shepherd.
