Join us to explore two of the most charming towns in Santander. The adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in San Gil, followed by a scenic 40-minute drive northeast through the beautiful Suárez River canyon.

Our first destination is Barichara, often hailed as one of the most beautiful towns in Colombia. Upon arrival, we’ll meander through its cobbled streets, taking in the impressive Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, a shining example of regional colonial baroque architecture.

Additionally, we’ll stop by traditional workshops that showcase the ongoing art of stone carving. This leg of the tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours, concluding with a visit to the Suárez River viewpoint to soak in the breathtaking vistas.

After regrouping at the vehicle, we'll head towards Guane, a serene town that was once an indigenous settlement, located just 20 minutes away. In Guane, we’ll explore the main square, home to the San Isidro parish church, and stroll along its picturesque colonial-style streets. We’ll also visit the Guane viewpoint for panoramic views over the town.

Next on the itinerary is the Guane Archaeological and Paleontological Museum, where you can view ancient fossils and pre-Columbian artifacts. Following this, we’ll cross the Camino Real to visit the Guane Cemetery.

Finally, we’ll take a 1-hour lunch break to indulge in a typical Santander meal. The menu options include carne oreada, sobrebarriga, or grilled chicken breast, accompanied by potato broth or mute soup. Side dishes include rice, yuca, potatoes, patacón, and fresh salad, all served with your choice of lemonade or seasonal fruit juice.

As our day comes to a close, we’ll return to San Gil, concluding our journey with a drop-off at your hotel after a total of 8 hours.
