Cacao Farm Tour
Description
Experience a cacao farm in San Rafael, where you will explore the chocolate-making process, from its origin on the tree to the final chocolate bar. You’ll engage in the harvest, sample the cacao fruit, and create your own chocolate. It’s a true feast for the senses!
Tour Overview
We will gather at the set time in the main park of San Rafael. From there, a short vehicle ride of less than 10 minutes will take us to the Cacao Forest, an area rich in local tradition.
Upon arrival, we will visit the Finca El Diamante, where you will discover the different types of cacao cultivated in Antioquia, the harvesting process, and the factors influencing their quality. Here, you will have the opportunity to sample the fresh cacao fruit right from the tree, revealing its pure and natural flavor!
Following this, we will proceed to the fermentation and drying area, essential steps for cacao seeds to develop the distinct aromas characteristic of this enchanting fruit. You’ll observe how each phase contributes something special to the end product.
The most engaging experience will be in the processing area, where you will toast the seeds, peel them by hand, and assess their precise cooking point using your senses. This is truly an art form!
Next, it’s time to embrace your inner chocolatier. You will select the type of chocolate you wish to create: whether it’s richer in cacao, sweeter, or creamier. You’ll toast the cacao seeds, refine them to a silky paste, and mold them into a chocolate bar, bonbon, or any delightful treat that you can envision. The highlight is taking your handcrafted creation home as a memento of this extraordinary adventure!
Throughout the tour, enjoy a soothing moment with a cacao exfoliation at the riverbank. This sensory experience will immerse you even deeper into the world of this ancient fruit. Don’t forget your bathing suit!
At the end of this enriching excursion, we will return to San Rafael, concluding our journey at the original meeting point after approximately 5 hours.
