Katanzama Indigenous Refuge Visit + Don Diego River Tubing
Description
Embark on a journey to discover the rich history and customs of the Arhuaca Indigenous community with a visit to the Kutunsama Refuge from Santa Marta. This experience also includes the excitement of tubing on the Don Diego River.
Activity Details
Our adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in Santa Marta at the scheduled time, setting the stage for a day trip to the Katanzama Indigenous Refuge, the heart of the Arhuaca community.
After approximately 1.5 hours of travel, we will arrive at our destination where we will delve into the lush surroundings with a local guide. This knowledgeable leader will share insights into the daily life of the villagers. As we wander through the area, we will discover ceremonial houses, stroll along the beach, and visit the area’s spiritual centerpiece: the sacred tree.
A delightful traditional lunch by the Don Diego River will follow our exploration. Once we've enjoyed our meal, we’ll move to the riverbanks, where an exhilarating experience awaits. Prepare for an adventure as you take on the tubing activity amidst stunning scenery!
During this exciting phase, you will ride on inflatable tubes, allowing the gentle currents to guide you toward the river's mouth as it meets the Caribbean Sea. Here, you will witness the remarkable juxtaposition of freshwater and saltwater, making for an extraordinary encounter!
As we conclude our adventure, there will be ample time to unwind on the tranquil beaches, soaking in the coastal views. Once relaxed, we will hop aboard a speedboat to navigate back upstream to our vehicle for the journey returning to Santa Marta.
After a fulfilling experience, you will be dropped off at your hotel 8 hours after the activity commenced.
