Let’s wander the city streets to reminisce about the significant occurrences that defined the Golden Age.
Following the discovery of the New World, individuals from Venice, Genoa, Flanders, Germany, and other European regions migrated to Seville to engage in lucrative trade through this Gateway to America. We will uncover intriguing details and stories from this captivating chapter in history!
During our free tour, we will gaze upon the Plaza del Triunfo, renowned for the Unesco triangle. Did you know that this noteworthy site features three buildings recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites? We will appreciate the exteriors of the Archivo General de Indias, the Real Alcázar of Seville, and the cathedral.
Our journey will take us past the façade of the Casa de la Contratación, crucial for grasping the significance of Seville during its Golden Age. The city's advantageous land routes and favorable navigation on the Guadalquivir River were vital in establishing Seville as the center of trade with America.
As we continue our walk, we will encounter other notable edifices such as the Royal Mint, Customs House, Church of La Caridad, and the Atarazanas. We will approach the Guadalquivir River to admire the Torre del Oro (Golden Tower) while discussing the remarkable voyages of Magellan and Elcano.
After two hours of exploration, our free tour will conclude at the Paseo Alcalde Marqués de Contadero.
