Seville Walking Tour & Torre del Tour
Description
During this guided walking tour in Seville, immerse yourself in the rich history and architectural beauty of Andalusia's capital as we explore its iconic monuments. A special highlight of our journey will include a visit to the Torre del Oro.
Tour Overview
We will gather at Calle Alemanes, number 31, conveniently located a short distance from the Seville Cathedral. Once everyone is assembled, our exploration of the city's historical core will commence. Let's embark on this adventure together!
To kick off, we'll admire the Giralda, once a minaret of a grand Almohad mosque, now serving as a Christian bell tower. Our path will lead us along the impressive walls of the Real Alcázar, an architectural jewel that showcases a fusion of Islamic, Mudéjar, Gothic, and Renaissance influences.
Nearby, we will discover the Archivo General de Indias, originally constructed to accommodate the Lonja de Mercaderes, later repurposed as an archive for the extensive documents of the Spanish Empire. Progressing further, we'll arrive at the Puerta de Jerez, where notable landmarks such as the prominent Hotel Alfonso XIII and the Baroque Palacio de San Telmo await our attention.
The next segment of our tour will lead us to the Torre del Oro, situated along the banks of the Guadalquivir. Here, we will explore this historic fortress originating from the Almohad era, which was integral to the city's fortifications. From its vantage point, the views of the river and the Puente de San Telmo are simply breathtaking—perfect for capturing that memorable photograph!
Continuing our exploration, we will wander through El Arenal and the vicinity of the renowned Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla, one of the most iconic bullrings in Spain. Our stroll will also take us along the scenic Paseo Alcalde Marqués del Contadero.
As our tour draws to a close, we will delve into the heart of Seville to uncover the Town Hall, the vibrant Plaza de San Francisco, and the splendid Church of San Salvador, celebrated as one of the city's finest examples of Baroque architecture.
We'll conclude our journey at this final location after two enriching hours.
