Private Day Trip to Kawagoe
Description
Have you ever contemplated the essence of the Edo period in Japan? Join us on this exclusive day excursion to Kawagoe, often referred to as "Little Edo." This historic castle town retains its remarkable charm, and with a dedicated guide accompanying you, you'll delve into its rich history while discovering the key cultural highlights.
Exclusive Day Excursion to Kawagoe
Upon meeting your guide at Shunjuku station, you'll hop on a train to Kawagoe. The ride will take less than an hour. Are you ready to leave behind the hustle of modern Tokyo and journey back in time?
Once we arrive, our first stop will be one of the town's most significant historical sites: Kita-in temple, an ancient Buddhist shrine dating back to 830 AD. Here, you will encounter some of Japan's most notable Rakan sculptures.
After our temple visit, we will wander through the vibrant city center, particularly along Taisho Roman Street. This area is alive with merchant activity and offers a glimpse into life during the 1910s and 20s. Many buildings here boast a history of over a century!
As we stroll, we'll admire the iconic black merchant houses in the Ichiban-gai district, providing a vivid representation of the Edo period, a remarkable era in Japan's past. Our next stop will be the Toki-No-Kane bell tower, a historic landmark established in the 17th century.
Our final exploration will lead us to Kashiya Yokocho, a lively street teeming with shops specializing in traditional Japanese sweets. Here, you will indulge in a delightful local treat—truly irresistible!
After enjoying your snack, we will conclude our experience on Kashiya Yokocho street, where you may return to Tokyo at your leisure.
