Description
Description
Discover three notable towns within the state of Veracruz in this immersive excursion that takes you through Xalapa, Xico, and Coatepec. This journey highlights rich coffee culture and historical haciendas that tell the stories of the land.
Itinerary
The adventure begins in Xalapa, the state capital, where we will tour the El Lencero ex-hacienda. Here, explore vast coffee fields, lush gardens, and a picturesque lake. The site showcases exquisite period furniture, antiques, and personal items from Antonio Lopez de Santana, a former president of Mexico who resided in this elegant estate, originally owned by a soldier of Hernán Cortés named Juan Lencero. Following this visit, a scenic drive around the city will unveil prominent landmarks including the Government Palace, Cathedral, University Zone, Paseo de los Lagos, and Juarez Park.
Next, we will proceed to Xico, a charming village steeped in traditions and legends, nestled in lush hills at an elevation of 2,800 meters. The highlight here will be the 16th-century Parish Church of Maria Magdalena, notable for its Neoclassical façade. A visit to the Patio de las Palomas reveals over 400 intricately embroidered dresses dedicated to the patron saint, enhancing the festive atmosphere with beautifully decorated streets and façades.
Wandering through the quaint cobbled streets, savor the renowned mole xiqueño, a local culinary delight. The journey continues to the breathtaking Texolo Waterfall, an oasis of natural beauty, as we pass numerous coffee plantations and haciendas, where your guide will offer insightful recommendations.
Lastly, we will travel to Coatepec, a region famous for its high-altitude coffee, situated at 1,250 meters. Here, we will visit the coffee museum for a delightful tasting experience and gain insight into various coffee varieties.
After an enriching 11-hour day, we will conclude our tour.
