Tour Overview

Envision immersing yourself in the ambiance of a lovely Mediterranean village located on the east coast of the Dominican Republic. We’ll start the journey by picking you up at the scheduled time, setting off towards the enchanting destination of Altos de Chavón.

As you stroll along the cobblestone pathways, you will feel transported back to the 16th century, experiencing the authentic atmosphere of a traditional Italian village. Although constructed in 1976, its design beautifully captures the essence of a classic Italian settlement.

Your adventure will commence at the Archaeological Museum, where you can explore indigenous artifacts and delve into the pre-Columbian history of this intriguing region. Following this, the journey continues to the Museum of Dominican Amber and Larimar, featuring two of the nation’s most prized and globally recognized treasures.

Next, you will make your way to the viewpoint of Altos de Chavón for breathtaking panoramic vistas. The visit will also include significant landmarks such as the Church of San Estanislao, the Traveso Fountain, and the remarkable Amphitheater, each embodying the village's unique beauty and cultural spirit.

Concluding your exploration will be a visit to the esteemed Altos de Chavón School of Art and Design, a notable institution linked with prestigious art academies in Japan, France, and the United States.

After approximately 5 hours of exploration, the tour will wrap up with a return to your hotel.

Optional Cueva de las Maravillas

If you opt for this additional feature, the itinerary will remain as previously described. Following our excursion in Altos de Chavón, we will proceed to the Cueva de las Maravillas (Cave of Wonders), recognized as one of the most stunning caves in the Dominican Republic.

The day trip will ultimately conclude after 6 to 7 hours by returning you to the initial pickup location.
