Great Synagogue Guided Tour
Descrizione
If you're in the capital of Hungary, you can't miss this guided tour of the Budapest Synagogue, the largest in Europe. You'll also have the option of completing the experience with a tour of the picturesque Jewish quarter of the city.
Great Synagogue Guided Tour
When booking, you'll be asked to choose between the following tour options.
2-Hour Tour (Budapest Great Synagogue)
Our tour begins in the Budapest Jewish Quarter, entering the Grand Synagogue, the largest in Europe and the second largest worldwide. Its interior is sure to impress you, with its golden tones and the mixture of Arab, Byzantine, and Gothic styles.
Then we'll head to the Jewish Museum—where we'll gain insight into Jewish history in Hungary through the varied artworks contained in the collection. An entire hall is dedicated to the Hungarian holocaust. Afterwards, we'll continue our tour through other emblematic spots, such as the Jewish cemetery and the famous tree of life.
4-Hour Tour (Great Synagogue and Jewish Quarter)
The Great Synagogue is the first stop on our tour, where we'll head inside and let the sheer scale of the religious temple leave you speechless (it measures 53 meters long and 26 wide). This building, constructed between 1854 and 1859, was designed by the Viennese architect Ludwig Forster.
Once the visit to the Synagogue is over, we'll follow the same route as the 2-hour tour. However, this tour adds a deeper dive into the streets of the Jewish Quarter, where we can explore the Gozsdu Passageway, one of the best-kept secrets in the city, and visit the interior of other synagogues.
