Buda Castle Free Tour: What to Expect
At the scheduled time, gather at Széll Kálmán Square in the center of Budapest. We will start our journey on foot to Buda Castle, an imposing fortress positioned on Castle Hill and designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We will enter the castle grounds via the Vienna Gate, the oldest entrance to this iconic site. The tour will guide you past the National Archives and the Church of Mary Magdalene, two prominent structures in the Buda Castle Quarter. Next, we will visit the Archbishop's Palace before strolling down Uri Street, admired for its captivating medieval architecture.
Upon reaching Holy Trinity Square, we will stop at the Matthias Church, historically significant as the coronation site of the last Habsburg king. Our next destination will be the Fisherman’s Bastion, where you'll enjoy striking views of the Budapest Parliament, the Danube River, and its scenic bridges.
This picturesque location is ideal for capturing memorable photographs, as it represents a highlight of the Castle Quarter. Our tour concludes at St George's Square by the Matthias Fountain, where we'll explore the legend surrounding the figures depicted in the fountain. The entire experience lasts approximately 2.5 hours.
