Overview of the Day Trip

Your journey begins with a prompt pickup at your hotel in Cancun, followed by our drive towards the Cobá archaeological site.

En route, we will pause for 30 minutes at a traditional Mayan village to experience an ancestral blessing ceremony conducted by a local shaman. This insightful introduction to Mayan spirituality will enhance your appreciation as we continue towards Cobá.

Upon arrival, we will venture into the lush jungle, where we’ll discuss Cobá’s historical significance and its competition with Chichén Itzá during ancient times. The tour will highlight key structures, including the astronomical observatory and the Mayan stela of Cobá, which harbors intriguing insights into this pre-Columbian civilization, with some speculations indicating it may even reference the date of the world’s end.

Following a comprehensive 2-hour guided exploration of Cobá, we will visit another Mayan village for a brief 20-minute tour. Here, we will explore the contemporary culture of the Maya through their vibrant traditions, beliefs, and time-honored customs. Participants can engage in a clay workshop to craft intricate figures with their hands.

A hearty buffet lunch awaits afterward, featuring an array of dishes including chicken, cochinita pibil, rice, beans, pasta, salads, desserts, and beverages. Energized, we will then proceed to the Kuxtal cenote, where you can swim amidst the serene setting of this sacred cave.

To conclude, our return to Cancun will have us back at the original meeting point approximately 12 hours from our departure.

This experience incorporates pickup from accommodations located in the Hotel Zone of Cancun. For those staying outside this region, we will convene at the GOmart Irun food shop.
