Day Trip to Syracuse, Noto & Ortigia

Our journey begins with a convenient pickup from your accommodation. We will board a comfortable minibus and depart, leaving Catania behind us as we travel approximately an hour to reach our first stop, Noto.

Syracuse, renowned as one of Sicily's most stunning cities, invites us to wander through its picturesque streets. Here, we will visit the Archaeological Park of Neapolis, a site rich in Greek and Roman heritage. Highlights include the ancient theater, still alive with classical music performances; a historic sacrificial altar; an impressively-preserved amphitheater; and the intriguing Cave of the Cordeliers, which served as a prison. Prepare to be astonished!

Next, we will return to the minibus and proceed towards Ortigia. On a guided tour through its historic heart, we will admire the temple of Apollo's magnificent facade, the majestic cathedral, and the famous fountain of Arethusa. This tour beautifully intertwines elements of Greek mythology with stunning Baroque architecture. Following this, you'll have some free time to enjoy lunch and further explore the charming streets at your own pace.

In the afternoon, our adventure continues to Noto, a late Baroque town recognized as a World Heritage Site. We will discuss the catastrophic earthquake that struck this region in the late 17th century and how it catalyzed a significant architectural revival. You will have the opportunity to admire the facade of the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, the elaborate balconies of the Nicolaci di Villadorata Palace, the Royal Gate, and numerous other significant landmarks.

After a fascinating exploration of Syracuse, we'll make our way back to Catania, concluding our day of discovery approximately 9 hours after we began.
