Experience an immersive exploration of Cusco, the historic heart of the Inca Empire. This guided journey includes visits to key landmarks, including the stunning Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, and the impressive palace of Inca Pachacútec.
Tour Overview
Our adventure will begin in the vibrant center of Cusco, where we will delve into the city’s rich history, tracing its roots to the era of the indigenous Inca civilization.
As we stroll through the charming streets of Cusco, we will arrive at the Plaza de San Francisco. Here, you will discover a breathtaking botanical garden showcasing a variety of plants from the Andes, including llaulli, yacon, cedroncillo, molle, and the distinctive queuña.
Next, we will visit the Colegio Nacional de Ciencias y Artes, which holds the title of the oldest public school in the city, established by Simón Bolívar in 1825. Continuing our tour, we'll pass by the Arch of Santa Clara, a notable representation of the city's colonial architecture.
Our journey will then take us to the lively San Pedro Market, an ideal spot to be introduced to authentic local gastronomy. From there, we will proceed to one of Cusco's most significant squares, the Plaza de Armas. Here, you will find the Compañía de Jesús Cathedral, which was constructed on the site of ancient Inca structures.
In the concluding part of our exploration, we will visit the Palace of the Inca Pachacútec as well as the exterior of the Church of Santo Domingo and the temple of Qoricancha. Throughout these visits, we will uncover the rich stories behind these historical sites.
Our enlightening walk around Cusco will last approximately 2 to 2.5 hours, culminating in a memorable conclusion.
