Tour of the Q’eswachaka Inca Rope Bridge
Your day begins at 5 am with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco, followed by a scenic drive south for two hours, where we'll pause at a local eatery for a hearty breakfast.
Continuing our journey, we will visit the stunning Pampamarca, Asnacqocha, Acopía, and Pomacanchi lagoons. After this refreshing stop, we will head towards the impressive Pabellones volcano, which is situated near the charming village of Yanaoca.
As we progress towards our main destination, we will enter the Q'ewe district and arrive at the renowned Q'eswachaka Inca Bridge. This remarkable bridge, constructed from handwoven grass rope, spans the Apurimac Canyon and served as a critical part of the intricate Inca road network that linked various cities within the ancient empire.
This bridge stands out as the last surviving structure from the Inca era, with its significance acknowledged by local communities who faithfully restore it every June through traditional methods. Remarkably, despite its historical age, it remains completely safe for crossing!
