Gulf of Fonseca 2-Day Excursion
Day 1
Our journey will commence with a morning meeting to embark on a 2-day exploration of the Gulf of Fonseca, a protected jewel of the Pacific Ocean renowned for being the premier natural harbor globally.
The trip begins with our first destination, Conchagua Volcano, situated at the western tip of the Gulf of Fonseca, an area safeguarded within El Salvador. From this vantage point, you will be able to capture some of the most breathtaking views of the region, so ensure your camera is ready for those unforgettable pictures!
When reserving the tour, guests have the choice to replace the visit to Conchagua Volcano with a relaxing time at Las Tunas Beach, an idyllic spot to unwind while savoring local seafood specialties.
Next, we will enjoy a guided walk through the town of Conchagua, where one can discover one of El Salvador's oldest churches and explore a local market renowned for pupusas, a beloved traditional dish.
Our day will conclude as we make our way to La Union for our overnight stay.
Day 2
After breakfast at the hotel, we will proceed to the Central American Port of La Union to board a boat, setting sail towards our first destination: the island of Meanguera.
On this island, we will spend around thirty minutes discovering its volcanic history and the unique fact that the borders of El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua meet in this location.
We will return to our boat to travel to Zacatillo, an island where you can indulge in its delicious cuisine at one of the local restaurants. You will have around two hours of free exploration time during your visit.
Following this stop, we’ll set off again to explore Isla Conejo or 'Rabbit Island', a small island currently under contention with Honduras.
Finally, we will return to La Union port and make our way back to San Salvador, concluding our adventure.

Included in this 2-day excursion is one night’s stay at the Comfort Inn Hotel, a 4-star establishment. Additionally, breakfast will be provided on the second day.
