Day Trip to Savoca and Taormina

Your adventure begins at the port of Messina, where we will board a bus destined for Savoca, a charming medieval town situated at an elevation of 300 meters. Throughout the hour-long ride, we will share the significance of Savoca's contribution to the film industry, revealing why this city may feel remarkably familiar!

In 1972, renowned director Francis Ford Coppola selected this picturesque location for various scenes in his iconic film: The Godfather. As we navigate its cobbled alleys, we will pass the St. Nicolas church, the site of Michael and Apollonia’s wedding, and make a stop at the renowned bar Vitelli, reminiscent of what you saw on screen!

After leaving this cinematic gem behind, we will head towards Taormina. This historical town presents breathtaking views of the coastline, all framed by the imposing Etna volcano. You’ll have the chance to explore the remarkable Greek and Roman theatre as well as the bustling Corso Umberto, two of the area's main highlights.

Following this, you will enjoy some free time to browse through numerous local street stalls and soak in the vibrant atmosphere of one of Sicily's most picturesque towns. It's the ideal occasion to savor delicious Sicilian cuisine at one of the many eateries nearby (not included).

This day trip can be enjoyed as a shore excursion. If you're arriving on a cruise, please provide the name of your ship; we will meet you in the disembarkment area half an hour after your vessel is scheduled to arrive.
