Excursion to La Virginia & El Guásimo

Your adventure begins with a pickup at 7:30 am from your accommodation in Pereira, after which we will head towards La Virginia, situated approximately 35 kilometers away.

Our first stop will be at the El Guásimo Natural Reserve, an impressive area spanning 1,400 hectares in the Cauca River Valley. Here, we’ll embark on a three-hour trek along the designated nature trail within the reserve.

Upon arriving at the Cauca River, we’ll traverse its banks for an hour, moving through the vibrant vegetation of the dry tropical forest. This unique forest is the sole one of its type in the Andean region, making the reserve’s conservation efforts vital for the safeguarding of its 400 hectares of dry Andean forest.

While navigating through this stunning area, expect to encounter a rich variety of flora and fauna. This excursion blends physical challenge, the beauty of nature, and the mission of environmental protection seamlessly!

During our journey, a lunch break will be provided where you can enjoy a regional specialty alongside a drink. Following the meal, we will head to La Virginia, a charming town nestled between the banks of the Cauca and Risaralda rivers, where you can explore its notable sites alongside local legends and traditions.

At the conclusion of our excursion, we will return to Pereira, ensuring you arrive back at your hotel by around 1:30 pm.
