Depart from Pisciotta and embark on an excursion to Paestum, renowned as one of Italy's most significant archaeological locations!

Paestum Adventure

Following our meeting at your designated spot, we will travel by minibus to the archaeological site of Paestum, where we will uncover the history behind three magnificent Doric temples dedicated to Hera and Athena.

Upon arrival in Paestum, we will commence our exploration of the archaeological park to delve into its fascinating past. Did you know that this city of Magna Graecia was originally established as Poseidonia, named in honor of Poseidon? Our journey will begin at the Temple of Hera I, a Doric structure dating back to 550 BC, revered for its dedication to the goddess of family and fertility.

Next, we will visit the Temple of Neptune, often referred to as the Temple of Hera II, which stands as the largest temple in Paestum. Subsequently, we will explore the Temple of Athena, a smaller edifice formerly known as the Temple of Ceres.

After our tour of the archaeological site, we’ll proceed to the museum within the park, where we will discover a rich array of artifacts unearthed during excavations at Paestum. This includes pottery, weaponry, frescoed gravestones, and burial items from the Greek and Lucanian necropolis... a captivating artistic and historical collection!

Additionally, we will have the opportunity to admire the iconic frescoes from the extraordinary Tomb of the Diver. These remarkable funerary slabs hold a unique status as the only existing example of Greek painting featuring figurative scenes.

After four engaging hours of exploration, we will return to Pisciotta and transport you back to your original meeting point.
