Activity Overview

Day 1: Arrival at Surabaya Airport

Your Indonesian adventure begins as your guide awaits you at either Juanda International Airport or the Surabaya train station. From this point, you will journey through the vibrant landscapes of East Java towards your accommodation near Mount Bromo, where you will spend the night.

The transfer from Surabaya, lasting approximately three hours, includes a break for a satisfying lunch to recharge before reaching your hotel, where you can relax in preparation for an early start the following day.

Day 2: Exploring Mount Bromo

Awake early on day two as you depart from the hotel around 3:30 am to capture the magical dawn. Board an all-terrain Jeep and set off towards Gunung Penanjakan, where a viewpoint awaits you at an elevation over 9000 feet (2,770 metres). Here, you will witness one of the world's most spectacular sunrises, with the Bromo and Seremu volcanoes glowing in the morning light—a moment etched in memory!

Following this unforgettable experience, you will descend into the caldera to get closer to the active Mount Bromo. Enhancing your adventure, you will ascend the volcano's slopes on horseback, embracing the stunning natural environment around you.

After taking in the awe-inspiring vistas from Gunung Bromo, you will return to your hotel for a delightful breakfast. Your exploration will continue with a visit to Ketapang (also known as Kalipuro), where you can unwind and recharge for another day of discovery.

Day 3: Ijen – Ketapang – Bali

As day three unfolds, prepare to maximize your final hours of exploration!

Gather in the hotel lobby at 2 am to embark on a trip to the remarkable Ijen volcanoes, famously dubbed Indonesia’s blue volcano. Here, you will explore the captivating terrain characterized by its distinctive blue lava. Although safety regulations prevent direct observation of this unique phenomenon, detailed explanations about its characteristics will be provided. Ever wondered why the magma appears in such a striking color? We’ll share intriguing insights into this extraordinary crater.

After delving into the natural wonders of East Java, you will head back to Ketapang to board a ferry bound for Gilimanuk, marking the conclusion of your three-day volcanic expedition in Indonesia.

Your three-day itinerary grants you two nights' accommodation with breakfast. Below are the hotels featured during your stay:

• Mount Bromo (First Night): Lava View Lodge Hotel or an equivalent option. From 2026 onward, accommodations will shift to Lereng Hotel Bromo or similar alternatives.
• Ketapang (Second Night): Ketapang Indah Hotel or similar.
