Embark on a journey into one of Mexico’s enchanting Magical Towns while uncovering the Mayan heritage through this exciting adventure to Chichen Itza, Izamal, and the Yokdzonot Cenote.
Trip to Chichen Itza, Izamal & Yokdzonot Cenote
Your experience begins between 7 and 7:30 am, as we greet you at your hotel in Valladolid for a brief journey to Chichen Itza, located just 45 minutes away.
Upon arrival, you will step into the Mayan ruins to marvel at its impressive temples and learn about its gods through an engaging guided tour lasting approximately an hour and a half. Recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the modern world, this ancient site invites further exploration during your free time.
Next, we will head to the Yokdzonot Cenote, famed for its stunning natural beauty. Here, amidst the pristine surroundings, you can swim or dive into waters that plunge over 130 feet deep. Around 12:30 pm, we will savor a delightful traditional lunch featuring options like chicken, panuchos, salbutes, empanadas, or poc-chuc.
Once recharged, we will journey to the captivating Izamal, recognized as the city of three cultures. You will have the opportunity to visit the impressive Kinich Kak Moo, one of the largest edifices in Mesoamerica, where the adventurous can climb its heights. Following this, a stop at a craft workshop will allow you to witness the creation of traditional art pieces.
As the day concludes, we will return to Valladolid, with an anticipated arrival at your hotel around 6:30 pm.
Artisan Workshop
The artisan workshop experience will take place at one of the following locations, subject to availability:
- Cocoyol workshop: crafting jewelry from local fruit seeds and thorns of the Henequen plant
- Miniature workshop: creating small-scale artworks
- Paper maché workshop: expertly working and painting with paper maché by hand
