Prado Free Walking Tour
Our free walking tour through Montevideo's iconic Prado district begins on Avenida Delmira Agustini, next to the Stagecoach Monument (Monumento a la Diligencia). There, you will hear all about the story behind this grand sculpture.
The journey continues at the Barrio Las Quintas neighborhood, featuring the magnificent Casa Quinta Aurelio Berro villa resembling a medieval European castle. Another notable structure is the Carmelitas Church, showcasing beautiful Neo-Gothic style.
Next, we visit the Prado Rose Garden, inaugurated in 1912 and dedicated to Uruguayan poet Juana de Ibarbourou. After exploring the floral displays, we will cross the bridge over Miguelete Creek to arrive at the Hotel del Prado. This stately building from 1912 has historical significance as a tea house and events venue. In the gardens, you will find the Cordier Fountain and its sculptures.
Our tour concludes in front of the entrance of the Montevideo Botanical Garden.
