Your journey begins at 2 pm, where we will convene at your hotel to embark on a personalized discovery of Pasto, known as the 'City of Surprises' in Colombia.
To kick off our adventure, we will enjoy a brief overview of this charming town before embarking on a stroll through the historic heart of the city. During our walk, we will take in the distinctive architecture characterizing the region, focusing particularly on the exquisite churches situated throughout the city, which are truly remarkable examples of design.
Our first stop will be the Cathedral of Pasto, inaugurated in the early 1920s. You might be interested to know that this structure stands where a previous church was dismantled at the close of the 19th century. Inside, we will discover preserved relics from the former San Francisco church, including a carved wooden cross and a depiction of the crucified Christ.
From there, we will proceed to the San Juan Bautista church, recognized as the first cathedral within the city confines. Our next destination is the Cristo Rey church, followed by a visit to the Sanctuary of La Merced, the revered patroness of Pasto.
As we delve deeper into the city’s historical and cultural tapestry, we’ll stop at the Plaza de Nariño and explore the intriguing Carnival Museum. Have you heard of the Carnival of Blacks and Whites? We’re eager to share insights about the largest folkloric celebration in Pasto!
Subsequently, we will visit a varnish workshop, where you will learn about this unique artisan technique recognized as a Cultural Heritage of Colombia. To conclude our excursion, we'll observe the traditional preparation of paila ice cream.
The private enrichment tour will wrap up back at your hotel in Pasto by 6 pm.
