Our adventure commences at 8:30 am as we gather at your hotel in Sucre and depart for the quaint village of Chataquila. Our initial stop will be the local chapel, a historical site where Tomás Katari, a prominent figure in Indigenous resistance, met his end.

From this point, we'll embark on a 2-hour trek along the Inca Trail of Chataquila. Throughout the hike, you'll be captivated by the stunning views and discover the medicinal properties of various plants, including muña and wira wira, that we encounter on our path.

Upon reaching the village of Chaunaca, we will board a bus to the magnificent Maragua Crater. Once there, we'll traverse this ancient geological marvel while enjoying the fresh and invigorating air.

We will also gain insight into the local community’s lifestyle by visiting some homes and learning about their agricultural and textile production practices. After delving into their cultural beliefs, we will take a moment to enjoy a relaxing picnic lunch.

Following our meal, we'll begin our return to Sucre, making a stop at a viewpoint to capture a stunning panoramic vista of the Bolivian landscape. We anticipate returning to your hotel around 3:30 pm.

Visiting the Niñu Mayu Dinosaur Footprints

For those seeking more adventure, consider the option to include a visit to the Niñu Mayu dinosaur footprints. After lunch and our trip to the viewpoint, we will set off to this extraordinary location, recognized as one of Chataquila's seven wonders. A further 2-hour hike will allow us to marvel at the genuine dinosaur footprints dating back to the Cretaceous period. We will conclude our excursion by returning you to your hotel in Sucre by 5:30 pm.
