Chiang Mai Temples Private Tour
Description
Explore the Old City and the significant Buddhist temples in northern Thailand through this captivating private tour in Chiang Mai.
Description
We'll begin our journey at 8 am with a pick-up from your hotel in Chiang Mai, setting off to uncover some of the city's most iconic landmarks and vital temples. Chiang Mai boasts a rich history spanning over 700 years waiting to be explored!
The first stop will be the Wat Phra Singh Temple, renowned as one of the most opulent and visited temples in the area. Nestled in the western section of the Old City, its foundations trace back to the mid-14th century!
Our next destination will be the Wat Chedi Luang Temple, which previously served as a fortress to guard against Burmese incursions. Inside, we’ll view the enormous chedi that housed the revered Emerald Buddha in the past. As we navigate through the historic core of the city, our guide will introduce us to the Wat Chiang Man Temple, recognized as the oldest temple in Chiang Mai. Be prepared to admire its various spaces and the numerous elephant sculptures adorning its chedi.
Following this, we'll venture to a distinctive wooden temple tucked away despite its central position. Here, we will appreciate the intricate wood craftsmanship and the temple's substantial Buddha statue. On certain days, you might even witness rituals taking place in this serene space!
After immersing ourselves in the splendor of the city’s notable temples, we'll explore a local market featuring fruits and vegetables, where you'll gain insight into the ingredients fundamental to Thai cuisine. The tour will conclude after approximately four to four and a half hours of engaging exploration in Chiang Mai.
